Make main page read-only?!

Can someone set this to prevent spam? I've just resetted the main page as it had been replaced with pornographic ads. And from the history one can see that this hasn't been the first time. --Http://mylid.net/lukasros 12:42, 14 March 2006 (PST)

You might look at Evan Prodromou's BannedContent extension. It's much more in line with the wiki way to reject clearly unwanted content machine-wise, than to prevent editing.

Please, please, PLEASE protect the mainpage. Wikipedia's all about fucking openness, and even THEY protect the front page. It's just common sense. I just created an account solely so I could unvandalize it yet again. At the very least, captcha-protect user registration!!! Gwillen 15:28, 21 February 2008 (PST)

Horizontal menu?
